Abu Dhabi Etihad Arena to stage inaugural basketball showcase

Etihad Arena will host new Euroleague Basketball’s SuperCup event

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (UAE) (DCT Abu Dhabi) and the Euroleague Basketball have announced the launch of the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup, a new competition that will officially open the European club basketball season.

‘Euroleague Basketball’ stated that the first edition will take place at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi (UAE), on September 18th and September 19th, 2026.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is the Government agency of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital tasked with driving the sustainable growth of the Emirate’s culture and tourism sectors, preserving its heritage and promoting it globally as a world-class destination.

The Euroleague Basketball SuperCup is a new annual Men’s professional basketball tournament that serves as the official opening event of the European club basketball season. Its inaugural edition is scheduled for September 18th-19th, 2026, at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi.

The Etihad Arena (initially known as the Yas Bay Arena while under construction) is an indoor arena in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, located on the Yas Bay Waterfront district of Yas Island. The capacity of the venue is 18,000.
 

Package Tickets

‘Euroleague Basketball’ further stated that the full event package tickets for the Euroleague Basketball SuperCup 2026 are now on sale at the Etihad Arena Webpage thus giving fans the opportunity to secure their seats for the inaugural edition of the competition.
 

International Sports Destination

The SuperCup is an exciting addition to Euroleague Basketball’s competition portfolio thus creating a premium annual event that showcases the elite European club basketball while further expanding the league’s global footprint. Hosting the first edition in Abu Dhabi underscores the Emirate’s growing stature as an international sports destination and its commitment to staging world-class events.
 

Inaugural SuperCup

The inaugural SuperCup will bring together the four elite clubs: The reigning EuroLeague champion Olympiacos Piraeus (a famous professional basketball team from Greece), the 2025 EuroLeague champion Fenerbahçe Tarfin Istanbul (the professional men’s basketball team from Turkey), the 2026 finalist Real Madrid (the professional basketball team from Spain), and the Dubai Basketball, representing the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for a two-day showcase that will officially open the European club basketball season.
 

Final Four Format

The competition will follow a Final Four format with two games each day. On September 18th Olympiacos Piraeus will take on Fenerbahce Tarfin Istanbul at 18:00 GST (16:00 CEST) while Dubai Basketball will face Real Madrid at 21:00 GST (19:00 CEST). The tournament concludes on September 19th with the third-place game at 18:00 GST (16:00 CEST) followed by the first ever Euroleague Basketball SuperCup Final at 21:00 GST (19:00 CEST).

Building on the success of the EuroLeague Final Four in Abu Dhabi the new SuperCup represents the next chapter in the long-term partnership between the Euroleague Basketball and the DCT Abu Dhabi. Brokered by Euroleague Basketball’s strategic partner IMG the agreement supports the league’s international growth strategy while further strengthening Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for the world-class sporting events.

Ticket Information

The two-day packages for the event are already on sale while the single-day tickets will be available from August 31st at the Etihad Arena Webpage.

August 31st, 12:00 GST (10:00 CEST): The single-day tickets go on sale allowing the fans to attend either the Friday or Saturday games. The prices will range between: €55 (AED 220) to €138 (AED 552) for Friday’s games and €102 (AED 409) to €256 (AED 1,025) for Saturday’s games depending on the seating category.

The two-day event packages will remain on sale throughout the ticketing period subject to availability thus allowing the fans to continue benefiting from the best-value ticket option.

The VIP hospitality packages have been made available from August 24th with additional availability from August 31st thus offering fans and the businesses exclusive benefits to enhance their SuperCup experience.
