A jury made up of representatives from the LaLiga team Atlético de Madrid and its technology partner selected the winning proposal of the Atleti Lab Open Connect competition following an event in Madrid (Spain) where the three finalist companies presented their projects.
‘en.atleticodemadrid.com’ stated that the Spanish technology company Navilens has been named the first winner of the Atleti Lab Open Connect powered by Telefónica, a global open innovation competition aimed at identifying the innovative solutions in the fields of sustainability, accessibility and inclusion. Navilens was declared winner for its intelligent signage solutions.

NaviLens is a Spanish technology company specializing in assistive technology and universal accessibility solutions and is most famous for inventing a proprietary, high-contrast color matrix barcode system designed to help the blind and the visually impaired individuals navigate the world independently.
Telefónica is a Spanish multinational telecommunications company headquartered in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the largest telephone operators and mobile network providers in the world providing fixed and mobile telephony, broadband and subscription television primarily across Europe and Latin America.
‘en.atleticodemadrid.com’ further stated that the above event took place at LaCabina, Telefónica’s technology hub. The three finalist companies – Navilens, Asteroid Technologies and Cute Circuit – took part after being selected from more than 100 applications submitted from around the world. Each company delivered a pitch to present its project before a jury made up of Directors from Atlético de Madrid and its partner.
Intelligent Signage Solution
Navilens’ intelligent signage solution was chosen as the winner. The technology enables people to instantly access information about their surroundings using a mobile phone. The high-density codes are placed on the physical spaces or products where information is to be provided. Thanks to the technology behind these codes they can be easily scanned with a mobile device from long distances and without the need to focus directly on them.
Disruptive Solution
This disruptive solution offers significant benefits for the general public and particularly for people with visual impairments. The Atlético de Madrid will contribute €10,000 to help bring the Navilens proposal to life during the upcoming season.
The Asteroid Technologies is an acclaimed Argentine social-tech startup founded by the globally recognized innovator Mateo Salvatto. While its headquarters are in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the company maintains a significant presence and expanding operations in Spain.
