The Scottish Premiership team Dundee F.C. confirmed that all necessary documentation was submitted on July 20th to the Dundee City Council relating to the Camperdown Stadium Project in Dundee, Scotland (UK).

The top-flight club believes that the Camperdown Stadium Project will be a crown jewel of the city’s rejuvenation.

‘dundeefc.co.uk’ stated that the above development follows almost two years of dialog between the club’s project consultants, the city planners and Transport Scotland (the national transport agency for Scotland managing the rail network, the major roads and the public travel rules).

The Dundee F.C. is a professional football club based in the city of Dundee, Scotland (UK) and was founded in 1893. The team are nicknamed ‘The Dark Blues’ or ‘The Dee’. The club plays its home matches at the Dens Park and currently plays in the Scottish Premiership, the highest level of the Scottish football league system.

The 11,775-seat Dens Park is a football stadium in Dundee, Scotland (UK) which is the home of the Scottish Premiership club Dundee F.C.

The Camperdown Stadium Project is a proposed 12,500-capacity multiuse sports and entertainment arena in Dundee, Scotland (UK) designed to replace the Dens Park as the home of the Dundee F.C. since 1899.

Robust Submission

‘dundeefc.co.uk’ further stated that after the initial submission for Planning Permission in Principle (PiP) in February 2024 the Dundee F.C. Consultants have worked through a significant engagement process with all the relevant stakeholders to ensure the most robust submission.

The Planning Permission in Principle (often called PiP) is a two-stage process used to check if a site is acceptable for housing before spending money on detailed designs. It focuses strictly on location, land use and the amount of development leaving detailed designs for later.

The top-tier club stated that they now believe they have taken every step required of them and look forward to their application being heard at the next available committee hearing date.

Protracted Planning Application

The Dundee F.C. thanked their supporters for their patience during what has become a protracted planning application.

Crown Jewel

The club stated that they have never wavered from their belief that the Camperdown Stadium Project will transform their future ambitions on and off the pitch and that it will be a crown jewel of the city’s rejuvenation through its many social, leisure and economic benefits.

Feedback Key Elements

Remarked John Nelms, Dark Blue Group (property and holding company which manages real estate and infrastructure projects) Managing Director (MD), “Firstly, I would like to thank my project team for guiding us to this stage. As many fans will have detected there have been many times during this process – which began in 2017 – when my frustrations have bubbled to the surface. While I would have preferred to have kept the fans more up-to-date we agreed to proceed at this critical phase privately with the relevant stakeholders to focus on updating key elements of feedback. Having done everything asked of us and more and having respected the planning process we now place our faith and the project’s future in the hands of the city’s elected representatives. We look forward to sharing our vision with them as soon as possible.”
