Dr. Martin Bechtold is presently in the role of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Fatzer AG, Switzerland.

A rope expert, he has made significant contribution towards the structural ropes industry since the year 2000 in technical, sales and managerial roles in Germany, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Bechtold is a Member of the national and international Standard Committees and industry bodies such as Eurocode 3 (related to the design of the steel structures), ASCE 19 (a standard which provides requirements for the structural design, fabrication and installation of cables in buildings), AG Brückenseile, the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), the European Federation of Steel Wire Rope Industries (EWRIS), and the International Organization for the Study of Ropes (OIPEEC).

Bechtold has done his PhD in Civil Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT – public university in Karlsruhe, Germany).
