Bill Mitchell is now Principal-in-Charge of the Centre Block Rehabilitation project in Ottawa (Canada) and Britney Goucher has been named Marketing Principal for HOK’s Canadian practice. Kirsty Mitchell has been appointed the Regional Leader of Sports + Recreation + Entertainment in HOK’s London (UK) studio.
‘hok.com’ stated that as Principal-in-Charge of the Centre Block Rehabilitation, Bill Mitchell, Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional (AP), will lead the ongoing design and delivery of the expansion, conservation and rehabilitation of Canada’s primary Parliamentary building.
The Centre Block Rehabilitation project is the massive, once-in-a-century restoration of Canada’s Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Scheduled for completion around 2031 the multibillion-dollar project completely overhauls the 1920s neo-Gothic icon to upgrade its seismic integrity, accessibility, security, and sustainability.

‘hok.com’ further stated that a Senior Principal at HOK, Mitchell is a registered Architect with nearly 40 years of experience spanning architecture, interiors, strategic planning, space management, and workplace strategy. He previously served as the Marketing Principal for HOK’s Canadian practice and played a key role in establishing the firm’s Ottawa office and the Global Space Management practice.
Holistic Understanding
Based in Toronto (Canada), Britney Goucher will lead the business development efforts across HOK’s Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto studios. Goucher brings more than 15 years of experience across architecture and construction giving her a holistic understanding of how the design decisions influence the project delivery.

Since joining the firm nearly 10 years ago she has strengthened the client relationships and the advanced pursuit strategies to win work across Canada. She is a Member of HOK’s firmwide Marketing Board.
Kirsty Mitchell, Architects Registration Board (ARB) Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), has more than 20 years of experience in the sports sector in London. In her new role, she works closely with the project teams and HOK’s Director of Sports + Recreation + Entertainment – International, John Rhodes, to strengthen the firm’s sports practice and deliver lasting sports and entertainment venues.
Inclusive Environments
Kirsty Mitchell’s portfolio includes the complex international projects including master plans and convention centers as well as stadium and arena renovations and new builds. She authors articles on topics ranging from women’s sports facilities to immersive fan experiences and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in sports and entertainment. She is also a member of HOK’s Women in Sports Group exploring how to reimagine women’s sports venues to create more inclusive environments for the female fans and the athletes.
