The English professional rugby league club Huddersfield Giants (UK) are about to make the same move as the professional rugby league club Bradford Bulls once did – moving to the FLAIR Stadium in Dewsbury, UK, as part of a medium-term plan.
‘Telegraph & Argus’ stated that the Betfred Super League basement boys confirmed that they would be moving to the professional rugby league club Dewsbury Rams’ FLAIR Stadium in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England (UK) for 2027.

The Kirklees Stadium, currently known as the Accu Stadium for sponsorship reasons, is a multipurpose stadium in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England (UK). With a capacity of 24,121 it serves as the residence of the Huddersfield Giants.
The 5,100-seat Crown Flatt, currently known as the FLAIR Stadium for sponsorship purposes, is a rugby league stadium on Owl Lane in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England (UK).
‘Telegraph & Argus’ further stated that as it stands there is no definite date for a return to Huddersfield for the club.
Purpose-built Stadium
The hope is that the Huddersfield Giants will return to a new purpose-built stadium in the town in the near future.
FLAIR Stadium Upgrade
Huddersfield Giants Director Rebecca Jackson, who is the granddaughter of the Owner Ken Davy, claimed the Giants will spend over £10m in upgrading the FLAIR Stadium.
The above move is subject to the Rugby Football League (RFL) approval and the Huddersfield Giants will also build a new stand to take the FLAIR Stadium capacity to 8,000.
Bradford Bulls
The Bradford Bulls left their home venue – the 26,019-seat Odsal Stadium in Bradford, England (UK) – at the end of the 2019 Championship season and were due to play the whole of the following campaign at the FLAIR Stadium, only for rugby league at that level to stop that March due to COVID.
When the Bulls initially returned to action for the 2021 season they were still at the FLAIR Stadium but after striking a deal with the stock cars they were able to return to the Odsal Stadium that May.
Super League-ready
Huddersfield are now making that move and Jackson stated, “The Huddersfield Giants will be moving to the Dewsbury FLAIR Stadium for the medium term. We’re still the Huddersfield Giants, we’re still based in Huddersfield and Huddersfield is still the home of the Huddersfield Giants. It’s not quite Super League ready yet so we definitely need to bring it up to standard and we’ll be spending around £10 million plus. So, it’s a huge investment going into that to ensure that it can actually be the place where the Huddersfield Giants can play and really have the atmosphere for both the fans and our partners.”
‘Medium-term Plan’
Added Jackson, “This is just a medium-term plan. We’re still looking to build our own stadium within Huddersfield. That is definitely still our intention. A lot of discussion has been happening and we’re hoping that this is going to be able to be a bit of a stopgap for us to have a medium-term solution to then get back to Huddersfield long-term.”
