Rapid first-year success positions IG Arena in Nagoya, Japan, as a key destination on the Japanese live entertainment circuit.

Must-play Venue

‘AEG’ stated that the IG Arena is marking a standout first year having hosted 116 events and welcomed one million visitors thus firmly establishing itself as a must-play venue in the region.

The 17,000-seat Aichi International Arena, also known as the IG Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a multipurpose arena in Kita-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

Unrivaled Premium Hospitality

Located in Meijō Park near the historic Nagoya Castle the IG Arena is recognized for its distinctive hybrid oval design and state-of-the-art facilities thus positioning it among Japan’s most modern and versatile venues. Offering an elevated live experience that’s underpinned by the world-class facilities, the exceptional acoustics and the unrivaled premium hospitality the IG Arena is setting a new regional benchmark for live entertainment. On an impressive growth trajectory the venue is striving to achieve a 40 percent uplift in the event count and 50 percent increase in the annual visitors during its second year of operation.

The first anniversary of Nagoya’s 17,000-capacity venue will be marked by the return of the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, also known as the Nagoya Basho. Delivered through a partnership between the Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), the Aichi Prefecture (a major region in Central Japan on Honshu Island), alongside the NTT Docomo (the largest mobile phone operator in Japan), and the Maeda Corporation (a major Japanese construction and civil engineering company) via the Aichi International Arena Company Limited (the private consortium established in 2021 to design, build and operate the IG Arena), the venue first opened with the same tournament on July 13th, 2025.

Los Angeles (US)-based the Anschutz Entertainment Group, Inc. (AEG), also known as the AEG Worldwide, is an American global sporting and music entertainment presenter and a subsidiary of the Anschutz Corporation. It is the world’s largest owner of sports teams and sports events.

Diverse Calendar

‘AEG’ further stated that in its opening year the IG Arena delivered a diverse calendar of live events, from the major sporting showdowns to the world-class concerts. Further to a successful season for the venue’s home team, the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, the IG Arena also welcomed the Super Bantamweight Championship (a professional boxing title for the fighters who weigh up to 122 pounds [55.3 kg]) in September 2025 and has been announced as a host venue for the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 taking place this September.

Music Programming

The music programming has also been strong with the arena quickly becoming a key stop on the international touring circuits. Performances from the global stars including Hans Zimmer (German film composer and music producer), Sting (English musician, songwriter and actor) and Janet Jackson (American singer-songwriter and actor) sit alongside strong demand for K-pop, now the venue’s highest-performing genre, with sellout shows from Aespa (South Korean girl group), XG (Japanese vocal group) and TXT (South Korean boy band). Complementing this, a strong lineup of the leading Japanese artistes like Yorushika (Japanese rock duo), AI, THE RAMPAGE (Japanese dance and vocal group), and B’z (Japanese rock duo) highlights the arena’s role as both as an international destination and a platform for domestic talent.

Live Entertainment Benchmark

Observed John Langford, President, Asia-Pacific (APAC), AEG International, “In its first year the IG Arena has introduced a new standard for live entertainment in the region combining scale with flexibility to attract a broader mix of international artistes. Built with the future of live in mind it is already playing a key role in establishing Nagoya as a major entertainment hub and we’re excited about what comes next.”

Regional Impact

The IG Arena’s regional impact to date is also reflected across the local economy in Nagoya with cashless spending in the surrounding areas including Kin-Shachi Yokocho (tourist attraction in Nagoya) and the Yanagibara-dori shopping street increased by 124 percent year-on-year between 2024 and 2025 following the arena’s opening.

Cultural Destination

Asserted Daejong Kim, Chief Operating Officer (COO), IG Arena, “We’re incredibly proud of the success that the IG Arena has achieved during its first year. The caliber of the artistes and the live events that we’ve welcomed reflects both the strength of the venue, our team and the growing positioning of Nagoya as a cultural destination and must-play city in Japan. As we look ahead to the IG Arena’s second year we will remain focused on continuing to deliver an exceptional experience for the fans and welcoming even more artistes and live events to Nagoya.”

The IG Arena forms part of AEG’s steadily expanding portfolio of sports and live entertainment venues strengthening the company’s presence across the Asia-Pacific Region alongside Bangkok’s (Thailand) 6,000-seat UOB Live and the 18,000-seat Mercedes-Benz Arena Shanghai (China) as well as the major developments in Osaka (Japan) and a second arena in Bangkok. On a global scale the AEG owns and operates a portfolio of more than 100 premier venues including the 20,000-seat Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles (US), the 20,000-seat The O2 Arena in London (UK) and the 17,000-seat Uber Arena in Berlin (Germany).
