Agustín Morales C. - Director of Design, Portafolio Inmobiliario, Costa Rica
Agustín has a degree in architecture and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and Finance, which has allowed him to work in various stages of real estate development for more than 15 years. Throughout his career he has overseen the operation of around USD $200 million in commercial assets, including Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center, which was awarded by the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Additionally, he has been an active member of various organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Business Alliance for Development in Costa Rica. As the planner lead and in collaboration of a multidisciplinary team, Agustín has conceptualized and evaluated more than 1.5 million square meters of leasable area, with a valuation exceeding USD $3.15 billion both inside and outside of Costa Rica. Throughout his career he has worked alongside renowned consultants and designers such as Peter Calthorpe (Calthorpe Associates), Kengo Kuma (KKAA), and Arquitectonica.
In recent years, much of his focus has been on the design and planning of two large projects aimed at becoming a sustainable urban development model for 21st-century Costa Rica. This focus was further strengthened when he assumed the role of Director of Sustainability for the organization in 2019, through which a strategy was set for 2024. This strategy is already yielding results, including INTECO´s certification for the Avenida Escazú project as the first carbon-neutral mixed-use project in the country and the Aleste project as the first to be awarded the Blue Flag in the Biodiversity category.
Nowadays Agustín has turned his energy into leading the Design division of the organization’s entire project portfolio, as well as the challenge of embedding Innovation into the company’s culture.
