As a Global Board Director and a Senior Principal at Populous, Shireen Hamdan has over 15 years of experience in designing and delivering innovative and sustainable sports facilities and masterplans across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East. She is a RIBA Award winner and a Leaders Under 40 honoree for her achievements in architectural design and innovation.

Shireen oversees Populous’ Middle East operations, where she has been involved in several landmark projects, such as the Qadsia Stadium Kuwait, Lusail Stadium, and the Qatar Sports Venue Masterplan and Coca Cola Arena Dubai.

Fluent in Arabic, she is passionate about creating sports venues and environments that enhance the social and cultural fabric of the communities they serve. She has also contributed to the design and planning of the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Club and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ prototype refugee shelter. Shireen is a frequent speaker at regional and international conferences on how sports architecture can be a catalyst for urban development and social integration.
