PSV Eindhoven is taking on construction company BMV as its long-term partner for the planned Philips Stadium expansion project.
PSV said the Veldhoven-based construction company will become PSV’s official construction partner in the coming years.
Subject to the granting of permits and financing, the renovation will take place between 2027 and 2030.
Philips Sport Vereniging, abbreviated as PSV and internationally known as PSV Eindhoven, is a Dutch sports club from Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is best known for its professional football department which has played in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, since its inception in 1956.
Philips Stadium is a football stadium in Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is also known as the PSV Stadion and serves as the home of PSV Eindhoven. With a capacity to hold 35,119 spectators it is the third-largest football stadium in the country.
As a construction partner on the Philips Stadium expansion project, BMV will play a pioneering role in the continued development of the Philips Stadium.
The focus is not only on the physical environment but also on the experience of fans, partners, and visitors. PSV and BMV have already shared various impressions of the renovation and intend to continue doing so.
The collaboration on the Philips Stadium expansion project aligns with PSV’s broader vision of innovation, sustainability, and connection to the region.
BMV brings extensive expertise in the areas of construction, development, and the execution of complex projects, with a focus on quality and social impact.
Through the Philips Stadium expansion project, the club plans to increase capacity from 35,000 to over 52,000–60,000 seats by adding a third tier.
The new tier will be added to all four stands, wrapped in a new outer structure featuring a colonnade-style facade designed to blend with the historic Philipsdorp area.
The project, featuring a new, unified, and green facade, aims to create a “football cathedral” to boost revenue and atmosphere, with four new Philips dvLED scoreboards already installed.
Long-term partnership
Sjors van den Boogaart, director of the Philips Stadium, said, “With BMV, we’re not just bringing in a construction partner, but a partner who truly thinks along with us about the future of PSV.
“The coming years will be marked by development and renewal, and we want to explicitly involve our supporters in that process. The fact that BMV is committing to us for 10 years underscores the trust and our shared ambition to create something lasting.”
PSV Commercial Director Frans Janssen added, “This partnership fits perfectly with how we, as a club, collaborate with companies: long-term, substantive, and with an eye toward the region and our supporters.
“This collaboration is not only an important deal for BMV and PSV, but actually for the entire Eindhoven area and its surroundings. The renovation of the Philips Stadium is a complex project, partly due to its location.
“We’re pleased to be able to bring parties with such extensive expertise on board to achieve the best possible result together.”
BMV views the collaboration with PSV on the Philips Stadium expansion project as an opportunity to showcase its expertise to a broad audience.
Additionally, the partnership underscores the power of collaboration within the Brainport region, where development, innovation, and implementation converge in projects with regional impact.
Robbert van Helvoirt, Managing Director of BMV, said, “It’s special to work on a project so closely connected to the region where we’ve been active for years.
“This place holds significance for many people, and that makes it wonderful to contribute here as a construction partner. Driven by that same commitment, we work together with clients every day on a wide range of projects in the region. We look forward to doing the same here, together with PSV.”
