Qatar’s Supreme Committee (SC) for Delivery and Legacy has announced that construction on all the stadiums planned for FIFA World Cup™ 2022 will be completed by the end of 2020, according to media reports.

Nasser Al Khater, secretary-general of tournament operations for Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, disclosed the organization’s internal deadline this week in an interview with Inside World Football in Berlin. The deadline would apply even on the two stadiums whose locations are yet to be confirmed.

“We are looking to complete our stadiums by 2020,” Al Khater said. “We are happy with the progress so far.”

So far, Qatar has officially named six locations for World Cup venues, namely Khalifa International, Al Wakrah, Al Rayyan, Al Khor, Qatar Foundation/Education City and Lusail City.

Khalifa Stadium will be the first World Cup facility to become operational and will be ready for use in 2017, shortly after construction is finished in late 2016.
