The Clementi Stadium in Singapore will be closed from July 7th for redevelopment works and will reopen in 2030.
‘THE STRAITS TIMES’ stated that the above information was given by the Minister for Education Desmond Lee.
The Clementi Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Clementi, Singapore. It has a seating capacity of 4,000.
‘THE STRAITS TIMES’ further stated that Lee stated in a Facebook (FB) post that the revamped Clementi Stadium will feature a new jogging track, softball field and multipurpose field for baseball or football as well as sheltered courts.
The current stadium has a pitch, a running track and a fitness corner.
The redevelopment was announced in 2024 by Lee, who is a Member of Parliament (MP) for West Coast-Jurong West Group Representation Constituency (GRC).
The Clementi Stadium, which opened in 1983, sits on a plot between the West Coast Road and the Ayer Rajah Expressway.
Lee said that during the temporary closure of the Clementi Stadium the members of the public can head to the alternative venues such as the Clementi Sports and Recreation Centre, the 2,700-capacity Jurong East Stadium in Jurong East and the 3,000-capacity Bukit Gombak Stadium in Bukit Gombak.
Concluded Lee, “Thank you for your patience and understanding as our colleagues from Sport Singapore build a better space for our community. We look forward to welcoming you back to a bigger and better Clementi Stadium.”
