The 70,240-seat SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, US, the 6,000-seat YouTube Theater in Inglewood and the Hollywood Park have completed a next-generation infrastructure upgrade expanding its game presentation and broadcast production ecosystems for the nearly 300-acre sports and entertainment destination.

Powerful AV Production System

‘SoFi Stadium’ stated that the SoFi Stadium is building on the success of hosting eight FIFA World Cup™ matches and preparing for Super Bowl LXI (the upcoming NFL championship game for the 2026 season), the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the National Football League (NFL) teams Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers (whose home is the SoFi Stadium) seasons, plus the global concerts, these upgrades expand the broadcast team’s capabilities. Equipped with the largest and most powerful audio and video production system in the stadium history the team can deliver an even more dynamic fan experience.

The Hollywood Park is a massive, nearly 300-acre sports and entertainment mixed-use development in Inglewood, California, US, built on the former site of the historic Hollywood Park Racetrack. Anchored by the SoFi Stadium it includes residences, retail spaces, parks, the YouTube Theater, and the Hollywood Park Casino.

The 2028 Summer Olympics, officially the Games of the XXXIV Olympiad and commonly known as Los Angeles 2028 or LA28, is an upcoming international multisport event scheduled to take place from July 14th-30th, 2028, in the United States. Los Angeles will be the host city with various events also scheduled to be held at the other cities spread across the Greater Los Angeles area plus two subsites in Oklahoma City.

Immersive Experience

Informed Josh Mark, Vice-President (VP), Broadcast Operations and Production, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, “We have built the next-generation control rooms to seamlessly support the evolving needs of the global events that the SoFi Stadium, the YouTube Theater and the Hollywood Park host. These upgrades give the production teams the ultimate toolset to push the boundaries of what is possible in live sports and entertainment thus ensuring that our venues continue to deliver an unparalleled, immersive experience to the fans.”

Live Production Environment

‘SoFi Stadium’ further stated that developed in partnership with Ross Video, the systems integrator Diversified and the key broadcast partners the extensive refresh customizes every layer of the stadium’s live production environment. This modernized tech stack integrates a brand-new production control room, the dynamic spatial audio, the advanced lighting controls, and the expanded fiber infrastructure driven by a fully refreshed Ross Video Tessera and Xpression (a real-time multiscreen graphics management and rendering system) built for global entertainment.

Iroquois (Canada)-based Ross Video powers live productions for billions of viewers. Technical Innovation

Added Travis Sampson, Senior Vice-President (SVP)-cum-Chief Technology Officer (CTO), SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, “Every technical innovation at the SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park is driven by one goal: Creating unforgettable moments for fans in the venue and watching around the world. Ross Video and our trusted partners have been instrumental in helping us redefine what’s possible in live broadcast production.”

Infinity Screen

The SoFi Stadium’s iconic Infinity Screen, the largest and only dual-sided, 360-degree digital canvas, received a complete system refresh. The collaborative engineering overhaul took nearly two years in coordination with Ross Video and systems integrator Diversified to deploy the largest and most robust XPression Tessera Ultra High-Definition (UHD) system. The cutting-edge system features two identical, independent graphics stacks offering full, instantaneous system redundancy for game-critical workflows. These upgrades elevate the visual storytelling and support the next-generation gameday presentations.

Technology Refresh

Commented Kevin Cottam, Vice-President (VP), Global Sports and Live Events, Ross Video, “We’re incredibly proud to continue our collaboration with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park and contribute to the venues that set the benchmark for what’s possible in live sports and entertainment. Being part of one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world is both exciting and inspiring for Ross Video. This latest technology refresh demonstrates what great teams can achieve when they share a commitment to innovation, operational excellence and creating extraordinary experiences for the fans.”

PCR3

To support the complex, simultaneous productions across the Hollywood Park the engineering team completely reimagined the venue’s control infrastructure. The centerpiece of this expansion is the construction of the Production Control Room 3 (PCR3), a brand-new, 17-position auxiliary control room designed to allow the stadium to operate multiple events simultaneously.

Switching Interface

The main control room received an industry-first upgrade and the SoFi Stadium is the first venue to install the brand-new, ultra-advanced Ross Video TD5L switching panels in both PCR1 and PCR2 thus giving the Technical Directors the largest and most advanced switching interface available.

Acoustic Architecture

To match the state-of-the-art visual upgrades the SoFi Stadium completely revolutionized its acoustic architecture by integrating the d&b audiotechnik Soundscape system. This cutting-edge spatial audio technology allows the audio engineers to dynamically object-source and direct sound around the seating Bowl thus bringing the game-presentation content and the stadium acoustics to a breathtaking new dimension.

On the visual entertainment front the stadium’s light board system was upgraded to the grandMA3 and grandMA Replay systems deployed by Kinetic Lighting thus providing lightning-fast control over the venue’s massive theatrical lighting package.

With an upgrade of this scale the SoFi Stadium and the YouTube Theater are primed to host the world’s most elite athletic and entertainment spectacles proving once again that the future of live events is at Hollywood Park.
