German Bundesliga club SV Elversberg has been given the green light to expand the North Stand at its Kaiserlinde Stadium.

SV Elversberg said Neunkirchen district has given the go-ahead for the project and issued the final building permit.

Sportvereinigung 07 Elversberg e. V., is a professional German football club, located in Spiesen-Elversberg, Saarland. The club competes in the Bundesliga, the highest tier of the German football league system, after promotion at the end of the 2025–26 season

Waldstadion an der Kaiserlinde, officially Ursapharm-Arena an der Kaiserlinde, is a multi-use stadium in Spiesen-Elversberg, Germany. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of SV Elversberg. The stadium currently holds 14,221 spectators.

With promotion to the Bundesliga in 2026, the stadium was required to be expanded to a minimum capacity of 15,000 spectators in accordance with German Football League (DFL) regulations.

The redevelopment plans were scheduled for completion by spring 2027, with a temporary permit allowing the club to continue gradual upgrades in the meantime.

Ground capacity is temporarily capped at around 9,000 to 10,000 spectators during ongoing stadium redevelopment.

SV ELversberg said the focus will be on the North Stand, which is slated for expansion to increase capacity and make the stadium suitable for the Bundesliga in the long term.

The expansion of the North Stand is set to create more than 5,000 additional spectator seats, bringing the Kaiserlinde’s total capacity to around 15,500 and ultimately meeting DFL requirements.

The local mayor had recently recommended that the building authority not approve the expansion application, citing among other things, a lack of documentation regarding safety and fire protection.

However, the responsible Neunkirchen district authority has now announced that the final building permit for the North Stand, and thus for the entire stadium, has been granted.

District Administrator Sören Meng explained that the decision followed an intensive review by all relevant specialist agencies.

The permit comes with various conditions. While Meng did not detail them individually, he noted that they had not stood in the way of the building authority’s approval of the final application.
