Andrew McIntyre - SVP, Technology & Innovation, Vinik Sports Group, US
Andrew joined Vinik Sports Group (VSG) in May of 2019 as Senior Vice President to Technology & Innovation. VSG is the parent company of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Amalie Arena, Tampa Bay Entertainment Properties, The Identity Tampa Bay and marketing rightsholder for University of South Florida Athletics and Yuengling Center. Andrew is responsible for technology infrastructure and services spanning video production systems, audio visual, and data center technologies as well as the organizations’ innovation practice.
Before joining VSG, Andrew spent the previous eight years with the Chicago Cubs. Andrew’s tenure with the Cubs started in June of 2011 as director of information technology and was promoted to Vice President in September of 2015. Andrew was responsible for software development and system implementation for enterprise business applications as well as the technology infrastructure and operations across Wrigley Field and the Chicago campus, the spring training facility in Mesa AZ, and the training academy in the Dominican Republic.
Andrew led the assessment and selection of the strategic technology platforms supporting business operations. A firm believer in a hybrid-based model for both implementation and ongoing enhancements, Andrew built the first software development team in the organization while partnering with niche consulting firms to accelerate implementation. These efforts led to an organizational wide roll-out of customer relationship management and enterprise data management & analytics.
The Ricketts’ investments allowed Andrew to design and build the technology infrastructure across the three main locations. The academy, launched in April 2013, and the spring training facility, launched in Nov 2013, were new construction. The 1060 Project provided the unique challenge of a 5 year restoration effort of Wrigley Field while also developing a mixed use office & commercial building, a 50,000 sq ft open-air plaza, and a 175 room boutique hotel. Andrew led the vendor & platform selection and implementation of our wired and wireless network (cellular and WiFi), data center technologies, audio visual, communications platforms, and broadcast cabling infrastructure. In addition, Andrew partnered with the safety & security and facilities teams to centralize support for their departmental applications – surveillance, access control, IoT and building management.
Prior to the Cubs, Andrew served as senior director of sales technology and operations at Bankers Life and Casualty, where he led the implementation of enterprise solutions supporting over 5000 insurance sales agents working across 49 states and over 200 locations. From 1999-2003, he worked as a technology consultant in the financial services solution center at Accenture. Andrew graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1999.
