Ryan’s passion for professional and collegiate sports, as well as the hospitality sector, shows clearly through his wide variety of design leadership experience. Ryan is rigorous in fundamentally understanding client goals and visions, designing environments, which are elegant in both function and aesthetic. With great respect for unique fan experiences, revenue generation and inspired place making, Ryan works tirelessly to achieve the shared vision between the client and the design team.
For more than 20 years, Ryan has made a lasting impact on large projects, with a focus on delivering innovative master plans for sports and entertainment districts. A respected architect with a global reputation for award-winning design, Ryan has worked on Rogers Place Arena in Edmonton, Bashrah Sports City in Iraq, State Farm Arena renovation in Atlanta, Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Sprint Center in Kansas City, and Avaya Stadium in San José. Ryan is currently serving as the Design Director for the new soccer-specific stadium for the Columbus Crew. Before joining HNTB, Ryan served as an assistant professor at the Kansas State University School of Architecture and Design. He continues to play an active role within the greater architectural community as a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is certified with the National Council of American Registration Boards (NCARB).
