Nathan Burk - Senior Associate Athletic Director, Boise State University, US

Nathan Burk

Nathan Burk joined Boise State Athletics in October 2021 and serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Operations and Governance.

Burk serves on the department’s leadership and senior staff teams, oversees the facilities, events, and operations department, the compliance office, and is the primary sport administrator for men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs. Burk oversees all capital projects and facility improvements at Boise State, including the $65 million renovation of the north end zone of Albertsons Stadium, the installation of lights at the football, soccer and softball stadiums, the largest renovation of locker rooms in Boise State’s history, and updating of branding around all facilities. Additionally, Burk oversees the contracting and execution of all special events at Boise State and has welcomed in a variety of artists, groups, and organizations including acts such as Luke Combs.

Burk has also played a key role in Boise State’s strategic initiatives in NIL and group licensing as well as helping navigate the department through the changes facing the college athletics industry.

Burk had spent the previous four years as the senior associate athletic director for compliance and administration at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he assisted with the executive leadership and strategic planning of the Vaqueros’ athletics department. In addition to the compliance office, Burk also oversaw the department’s strength and conditioning and sports medicine staff and was the sport program administrator for men’s and women’s tennis.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Burk worked at UTRGV as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Administration where he served on the executive leadership team, a member of the strategic planning committee. Burk oversaw the compliance office, strength and conditioning programs, and sports medicine staff and was the sport program administrator for the men’s and women’s tennis teams. Burk was instrumental in the planning and execution of the process to add football, women’s swimming and diving, and a marching band at UTRGV.

Previously Burk served as the director of compliance at BYU for more than three years. He oversaw all aspects of compliance for the Cougars’ football, softball, and men’s and women’s golf and tennis programs. He also worked to educate student-athletes, coaches, staff, and boosters about institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Burk joined the BYU staff from Utah, where he served as the assistant director of compliance for two years. In that role, he oversaw all recruiting activities, assisted with all waivers, investigations and interpretation requests, and was involved in other compliance affairs for student-athletes, coaches and staff.

Burk began his career as a compliance intern at American University during the 2011-12 academic year.

Burk was born in Pocatello, Idaho and raised in Farmintgton, Utah. Burk earned his Juris doctorate from the American University Washington College of Law in 2012, his bachelor’s in French with a minor in Business from Utah in 2008, and an associate’s degree from Utah Tech in 2006.

He and his wife, Jen, have four children – Brynlee, Hudson, Olivia and Madison.
