Vålerenga’s new stadium in Oslo to break ground in January

Vålerenga’s new stadium

Oslo’s biggest club Vålerenga IF is poised to have their own stadium by August 2017. Groundbreaking on the site of the planned new stadium is scheduled for January 4, 2016.

The new stadium will give the 102-year-old club a chance to finally own its own ground, having first played at Bislett Stadion and then Ullevål.

There are plans to connect the new stadium with Vålerenga’s present training grounds at Valle Hovin in Oslo. The capacity of the ground will be around 17,500 with an expansion option of 22,000 seats for European cup matches.
The stadium will be ready on August 1, 2017. This is critical because it will have a school built into the facility, specialising in football. The pitch will be 3G artificial turf approved for European Cup games.
