The National Football League (NFL) team – the Washington Commanders – are building a new world-class stadium and mixed-use entertainment district at the former RFK Stadium site in Washington, D.C. (US).

The Commanders want that Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be the foundational capability of the $3.8B+ stadium and the surrounding district.

‘commanders.com’ stated that designed by HKS Architects the above project represents one of the most significant sports and entertainment developments currently underway in North America.

The Washington Commanders invite qualified firms to express their interest in the AI-Native Stadium and District Experience Request for Information. The firms should provide their company details and a capability statement.

The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington Metropolitan area (US). The Commanders compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a Member of the National Football Conference (NFC) East Division.

The 64,000-seat Northwest Stadium is a multipurpose stadium in Landover, Maryland, United States, located within the Census-designated place of Summerfield 2.5 miles (four km) East of Washington, D.C. It is the home venue of the National Football League (NFL) team Washington Commanders.

The RFK Stadium site is a 190-acre campus along the Anacostia River in the Hill East neighborhood of Washington, D.C. (US). Formerly the home of multiple major D.C. sports franchises the site is undergoing demolition to be redeveloped into a massive mixed-use community space anchored by a new National Football League (NFL) stadium.

New York (US)-based the National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league in the United States. Composed of 32 teams it is divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Request for Information

‘commanders.com’ further stated that the Request for Information (RFI) seeks information about existing or previously deployed Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities and approaches for creating cutting-edge experiences at the state-of-the-art venues from firms at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, experience design, venue operations, and fan engagement technology. The objective is to understand how the leading-edge companies envision the next generation of the stadium and district experience, one that is fundamentally shaped by AI across the full spectrum of fan engagement, building operations and commercial activation.

A Request for Information (RFI) is a common business process whose purpose is to collect written information about the capabilities of the various suppliers. Normally it follows a format that can be used for comparative purposes.

AI Foundational Capability

The Washington Commanders are not seeking traditional technology proposals. They are seeking information from the firms that can help them imagine what becomes possible when a $3.8B+ stadium and the surrounding district are conceived, designed and operated with AI as a foundational capability rather than a bolt-on feature.
