For the first time ever, hockey will be played at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (US) in 2027.

‘dallascowboys.com’ stated that the NHL announced recently that the National Hockey League (NHL) team Dallas Stars will play in the Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series at the home of the Dallas Cowboys on February 20th, 2027.

The 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium is a retractable roof stadium in Arlington, Texas, United States. It serves as the home of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL) and was completed on May 27th, 2009.

The Navy Federal Credit Union NHL Stadium Series is a series of regular-season outdoor National Hockey League (NHL) games played in a non-traditional location like a baseball or football stadium and is sponsored by the Navy Federal Credit Union.

‘dallascowboys.com’ further stated that the Stars’ opponent will be announced at a later date and puck drop is scheduled for 7 PM and will be broadcasted on ESPN.

Since opening in 2009, the AT&T Stadium has played host to numerous major sporting events including the Super Bowl XLV, the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2015, the Final Four in 2014 and is set to host World Cup matches in 2026.

Now, hockey will be the latest sport to be played on the Cowboys’ home turf.

The Cowboys’ Owner and General Manager Jerry Jones said in a statement, “Hosting the NHL’s Stadium Series with the Dallas Stars is another great example of the vision we’ve always had for what the AT&T Stadium could be beyond football. The game will be another proud moment for us and being able to provide a world-class fan and team experience in partnership with two outstanding organizations, the NHL and the Stars, will be very special.”

It’s the second time that the State of Texas has hosted an outdoor NHL game for the Stars with the Cotton Bowl in 2020 being the only other venue to host a Stars home game when Dallas defeated the Nashville Predators 4-2. The NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is excited to bring hockey to the AT&T Stadium for the first time.

Shared Bettman, “The National Hockey League is thrilled to bring the spectacle of an NHL Stadium Series game to Arlington and one of the world’s most spectacular sports settings, the AT&T Stadium. Ever since its opening in 2009, Jerry Jones has been advocating for an outdoor game at this amazing venue. And we are delighted to partner with the Cowboys and the Stars – two franchises dedicated to the fans of North Texas – and to create another unique fan experience for a market that has long been a hockey success story and welcomed us so enthusiastically when the 2020 NHL Winter Classic was played at the Cotton Bowl.”
