Beijing 2022 draws out plan to reduce carbon footprint

The Beijing 2022 Olympic Organizing Committee has announced that most of the ice venues for the sporting gala will use natural CO2 refrigeration systems to decrease the overall carbon footprint at the Games. The landmark decision was announced by the Beijing 2022 Organizing Committee, as it joins the UN Sports for Climate Action framework, led by the International Committee (IOC). This will be the first time the technology is used in China and at the Olympic Games. It signifies a reduction of carbon emissions equal to the yearly footprint of almost 3,900 cars (more than 26,000,000 kg).
