New upgraded videoboards are coming to the Moda Center (Portland, Oregon, US) next year.

‘KGW8’ stated that the National Basketball Association (NBA) team Portland Trail Blazers recently unveiled plans to replace the iconic videoboards at the Moda Center that set the arena apart when it first opened in 1994 – with light-emitting diode (LED) displays totaling 7,520 square feet of screen space.

The Moda Center, formerly known as the Rose Garden, is the primary indoor sports arena in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is used for basketball, rodeos, circuses, conventions, ice shows, concerts, and dramatic productions. The arena has a capacity of 20,500 spectators when configured for basketball. It serves as the residence of the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Portland Trail Blazers are an American professional basketball team based in Portland, Oregon (US). The Trail Blazers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Northwest Division of the Western Conference.

‘KGW8’ further stated that according to the Blazers the new screens “will allow for more real-time in-depth stat displays, video displays featuring the player personality videos and in-game entertainment”.

The Moda Center’s center-hung scoreboard will increase in size 56 percent to 2,092 square feet of seamless LED display with more than 13.5 million pixels. Its updated design features continuous screens from corner to corner and new underbelly displays for the courtside and the lower bowl fans.

Commented Dewayne Hankins, President of Business Operations, Portland Trail Blazers, “We’re building on our legacy of innovation with these new dynamic end zone videoboards designed to bring the fans closer to the game than ever before. No matter where you’re sitting in the arena you’ll now have an incredible view of every play, every highlight and every stat – taking the Moda Center experience to the next level.”

Along with a new center-hung scoreboard there will be prominent scoreboards in each corner measuring 24 feet by 50 feet with over a million pixels and a “ribbon” board display between the two corners at each end.

Added Jerry Cifarelli Jr., head honcho of ANC, a company that supplied the product and installed it, “The Trail Blazers’ investment in cutting-edge display technology will build on the franchise’s momentum and take the arena atmosphere to new heights this season.”
