The NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers have selected a joint venture led by Turner Construction and AECOM Hunt as the construction manager for their new state-of-the-art arena in the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

NBA said the joint venture, named PACT+, will also include prominent Philadelphia-based firms Perryman Construction, Hunter Roberts Construction Group and Camfred Construction.

PACT + will work closely with the teams’ ownership and the design team at Populous and Moody Nolan to bring the new arena to life.

The targeted opening date for the arena is 2030, coinciding with the debut of the new WNBA Philadelphia team, which will play there.

David Adelman, Chairman of the joint venture between 76ers and Flyers, said, “Having Turner and AECOM Hunt on our team is a game-changer as we work to build the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world.

“The knowledge this venture brings to the project will ensure we are on the cutting-edge of the next era of how fans experience live sports and entertainment. This team shares our commitment to being authentic to the Philadelphia fan experience and building an arena the city and fans can be proud of.

“We are also proud to partner with local, Philadelphia based firms to bring this generational project to life.”

The Philadelphia 76ers, also known colloquially as the Sixers, is an American professional basketball team based in the Philadelphia Metropolitan area. The 76ers compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia. The Flyers compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference.

Both teams currently play at the 21,000-capacity Wells Fargo Center, a multipurpose indoor arena located in Philadelphia.

Dave Kaminski, Vice President and Senior General Manager for Turner, said, “This is more than a construction project—it’s a chance to build something that becomes part of Philadelphia’s fabric for generations.

“As someone who calls this city home, I couldn’t be prouder that Turner is helping shape a landmark that will bring people together and celebrate what makes Philadelphia such a special place.”

Jason Kopp, COO, Central Region, AECOM Hunt, added, “We’re honored to help bring the future of sports and entertainment to South Philly with this next-generation arena.

“Designed to transform the fan experience for decades to come, this venue will feature cutting-edge amenities for athletes, performers, and visitors alike – setting a new standard in large-scale venue design and construction.

“From Sixers and Flyers games to concerts and more, this project reflects the best of what’s possible when vision, innovation, and Philadelphia’s world-class skilled workforce come together.

“Together, we’re bringing bold vision to life, one that will truly reflect and represent the heart, spirit, and pride of Philadelphia.”
