Super League rugby club Castleford Tigers has revealed detailed plans for a new 10,000-capacity community stadium in the Wakefield.

To be located close to the Junction 32 of the M62 motorway, the stadium will form part of a £135m Axiom mixed development retail and leisure project proposed by London-based developers Lateral Property Group (LPG). The stadium would also be funded in its entirety by the retail development.

Designed to meet Super League requirements, the stadium will provide administration, changing facilities, restaurants and hospitality areas, with a mixture of both seating and standing terraces.

Once operational, the 106-acre next generation Axiom development will create in excess of 2,000 jobs, plus around 1,100 construction jobs per annum during the 2.5 year build period.

Three of the four stands of the stadium would be standing-only with facilities including corporate boxes, club shop, ticket office and bar.

A total of 2,746 parking spaces would be provided for customers of the retail units, with a further 237 spaces for the stadium.

LPG and development partners Highgrove launched the updated plans for the community stadium and retail development, which were originally granted planning permission in 2015.
