The English professional football club based in Liverpool, UK, which competes in the Premier League – Everton Football Club – are awaiting a decision on their planning application to build a new stadium. A decision is likely to be taken on the planning application in the summer of 2020.
The Blues plan to build their new facility on the line of the Wembley Stadium in London.
The Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium is a proposed football stadium by Everton on the Bramley-Moore Dock in Vauxhall, Liverpool, England.
Everton are now expected to finalize a detailed timetable with contractors Laing O’ Rourke on the 52,888-capacity stadium.
The public consultation is now closed on the stadium and the club is keeping its fingers crossed vis-à-vis getting the thumbs up for a new ground at Bramley-Moore.
The Planning Department of Liverpool City Council will now put together a report on the application for the planning committee to rule on.
Everton’s application is also likely to be looked at, in some form, by the UK Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, before a final decision is made in the summer.
Though The Blues will wait for the ruling, nevertheless, they will move ahead with putting together a detailed construction plan with Dartford (UK)-based international engineering enterprise Laing O’Rourke, who was officially appointed as the club’s choice last month.
Discussions will center on decisions over workforce, plant hire, requirements to access the site before work can begin and any potential issues that would need ironing out.
Everton’s detailed planning application did include an initial construction timetable which suggested works could begin on the site in September this year.
The Blues are currently working to a 37 month build-time.
In the coming months, Everton is also expected to conduct an extensive survey to take feedback from fans over match day themes, as they gather more information over the proposed new venue.
The Blues will ask supporters questions as regards ticket prices, food, hospitality and general admission.
Wembley-inspired
Everton will take a page out of London’s Wembley Stadium book for its planned new arena. The club says players’ changing room at their proposed new venue will be on the lines of those at Wembley Stadium.
As part of their planning application to Liverpool City Council, The Blues have also included the addition of extra changing facilities in the designs submitted.
The club hopes that the two extra rooms will facilitate them to bid for staging friendly games or competitions in the future involving several teams, which will act as another revenue stream to come from the £500m new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Everton have taken their lead on the design of the two main changing rooms at the planned stadium from those at Wembley and the idea of having “inter connecting” rooms has also been mooted.
The players’ facilities will sit in the West Stand of the new facility on the city’s waterfront which would serve as Everton’s new Main Stand.
Majority of the club’s hospitality seats will also be lodged in the West Stand as well as being the side of the ground which also houses the media section.
