AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano have handed in a project feasibility plan for the construction of a new stadium at San Siro.

AC Milan and Inter submitted the DOCFAP to the Municipality of Milan for the stadium and the redevelopment of the surrounding area.

The document contains the proposal for the acquisition of the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and surrounding areas, along with a feasibility plan for constructing a state-of-the-art stadium.

The clubs are moving ahead with plans to build a new stadium (jointly) which will sit next to the San Siro in what is currently a parking lot.

A 71,500-capacity stadium has been planned which will spread over 55,000 square meters. The venue will boast underground parking with spots for 72,000 vehicles and construction costs are estimated at €1 billion.

Out of the 71,500 seats 13,000 will be ‘hospitality seats’ devoted to VIPs. Construction work could get underway in 2027 with completion in 2030.

The San Siro Stadium (also known as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza) is a football stadium in the San Siro district of Milan, Italy. It has a seating capacity of 80,018 making it the largest stadium in Italy and one of the largest stadiums in Europe. It is the home stadium of the Serie A teams AC Milan and Inter Milan.

AC Milan, more commonly referred to as Milan, is an Italian professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy (Italy). Founded in 1899, the club competes in Serie A, the top tier of Italian football.

Inter Milan, commonly known as Inter, is an Italian professional football club based in Milan, Lombardy (Italy). Inter is the only Italian side to have always competed in the top flight of Italian football (Serie A) since its debut in 1909.

AC Milan said the latest plan is integrated into a broader urban regeneration project that emphasizes innovation, sustainability, and accessibility.

The proposal, developed by top professionals and industry experts, reflects the strategic vision of the two clubs’ ownerships and lays the groundwork for the creation of a landmark project that will serve as an international benchmark and bring significant benefits to the city of Milan and its residents.

A team of 50-60 people comprising consultants, engineers, designers, managers of the clubs, and their shareholder funds – Oaktree for Inter and RedBird for Milan – prepared the stadium project report.

Over the next few months, the two Clubs will engage with the Municipal Administration to discuss and refine the details and distinctive elements of the proposal, aiming to complete the acquisition process by July 2025.

The final concept and executive project may eventually be presented at a later stage and are not part of the latest submission.
