Major League Baseball (MLB) will return to Iowa (US State) when the Minnesota Twins and the Philadelphia Phillies meet in the third edition of ‘MLB at Field of Dreams’ which will mark one of the signature games of the 2026 regular season, the MLB and Universal Products and Experiences announced recently.

‘mlb.com’ stated that as part of its new partnership with the MLB, Netflix will bring ‘MLB at Field of Dreams’ to fans across the globe live from the refurbished site in Dyersville (City in Iowa). MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning production team will produce Opening Night, the T-Mobile Home Run Derby and ‘MLB at Field of Dreams’ in partnership with Netflix’s production team.

New York (US)-based the Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball league in North America composed of 30 teams divided equally between the National League (NL) and the American League (AL) with 29 in the United States and one (1) in Canada. The MLB is one of the major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada and is considered the premier professional baseball league in the world.

‘mlb.com’ further stated that the Twins-Phillies matchup on August 13th, 2026 will follow the previous two instalments at the iconic location of the classic 1989 film Field of Dreams with the first being played on August 12th, 2021 between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees followed by the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs playing on August 11th, 2022.

The Commissioner of Baseball Robert D. Manfred, Jr. said, “The Major League Baseball is excited to return to Iowa in 2026 and to deliver a unique experience to the Twins, the Phillies, their players, our two Minor League teams, and fans across the game. We look forward to working with Netflix and creating an event that all sports fans can enjoy.”

The ‘Field of Dreams’ stars Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, James Earl Jones, and Amy Madigan. It was nominated for the Academy Award® for Best Picture in 1990 and was selected to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2017. The 1989 film tells the story of Iowa farmer Ray Kinsella, a husband and father who is tending to his cornfield when he hears a mysterious voice intone, “If you build it, he will come.” According to the American Film Institute (AFI), those words are the 39th top film quote of all-time.
