Fans flocking to cheer on the Florida State Seminoles football team have been welcomed back to a new Doak Campbell Stadium experience following a $256 million renovation.
Populous said diversified seating, structural improvements and new technology integration are among the renovation highlights.
The transformation began three years ago with Populous and Seminole Boosters, Inc., teaming up to expand and upgrade several areas throughout the stadium, including a diversification of seating on the stadium’s west side and in the south end zone.
That now includes loge boxes, Founders Suites and more. In renovated spaces throughout the west and south sides of the stadium, fans can now enjoy mesh chairback seating for enhanced comfort in any weather.
Improvements to the west concourse’s structural system allow greater flexibility for fan movement, including expanded restrooms and better concessions placement and queuing.
The new West Sideline Club is another renovation highlight, putting fans at field level on the 50-yard line for a more authentic game day experience that also includes access to premium food and beverage offerings and restrooms, as well as climate-controlled club spaces fitted with operable glass walls to blur the line between indoor and outdoor areas.
Doak S. Campbell Stadium, popularly known as “Doak”, is a football stadium on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, United States. It is the home field of the Florida State Seminoles football team of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
With a capacity of 67,277 it is the 3rd largest stadium in the Atlantic Coast Conference, and the 26th largest stadium in the NCAA.
Populous further stated that no matter where fans go in the stadium, they’ll feel the effects of the transformation as a result of the project’s primary goal: a better experience for all Seminoles fans.
Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford said, “We are thankful to our fans, university leadership, the Board of Trustees, Seminole Boosters, and our entire Athletics Department staff for their unwavering commitment to modernize college football’s best fan experience at Doak Campbell Stadium.
“We asked our fans for their guidance and direction on what was needed beyond our own observations. That input really directed our efforts and made us very intentional about the enhancements.
“The work of our partners at Populous enabled us to create an incredible transformation of one of college football’s iconic stadiums. The folks at Manhattan Construction, Culpepper Construction and Nations Group are simply best in class — and they’ve proven that on this project. They were handed a very complex task and they’ve simply excelled at it.”
