The United Soccer League’s (USL) Greenville Triumph SC have opened the doors of their new GE Vernova Park stadium.

USL said More than 4,000 fans filled every seat and standing room area of GE Vernova Park – the largest crowd in club history.

The club celebrated the grand opening of its new permanent home, GE Vernova Park stadium, in front of a sold-out crowd, securing a win while also setting a new club attendance record.

Wallace Cheves, Chairman, Greenville Pro Soccer, said, “This moment represents years of hard work and belief from countless people who shared a vision for what professional soccer could become in the Upstate.

GE Vernova Park is a permanent home for the Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty, but more than that, it’s a gathering place for our community, where families can come together, create memories and experience the joy that sports can bring.”

Greenville Triumph SC is a professional soccer team based in Greenville, South Carolina, United States. The club began play in USL League One in 2019.

GE Vernova Park stadium is a new 6,300-capacity, multipurpose stadium and entertainment venue at BridgeWay Station in Mauldin, South Carolina (US). It serves as the home field for Greenville Triumph SC while also hosting concerts and community events. The 16,000-capacity Paladin Stadium formerly served as the club’s home ground.

GE Vernova Park currently features 4,006 fixed seats with additional seating and premium areas to increase gameday capacity to 6,300 once completed in 2027.

Expanded locker room facilities, enhanced concessions and upgraded fan amenities will cement GE Vernova Park as a year-round destination for professional sports, concerts, festivals, youth events and community gatherings.

The opening celebrations started well before kickoff with a Fan Fest presented by GE Vernova at Bridgeway Station, drawing thousands of supporters for live entertainment, player appearances, and family-friendly activities.

The energy remained high throughout the match, capping off the celebration with a post-game fireworks display.

Greenville’s Azaad Liadi had the honors of scoring the first-ever goal at GE Vernova Park stadium, prompting the crowd to erupt in cheers and Liadi to kiss the ground in excitement.

Liadi said after the match, “It was just a moment of gratitude and all the hard work that everyone put in to make this stadium amazing. I’m just grateful for the moment, and to be in the moment and to be here with all the fans. It’s special.”

The stadium’s grand opening follows a multi-year effort by Greenville Pro Soccer, the City of Mauldin, the State of South Carolina, and Hughes Investments to build a world-class sports and entertainment venue at BridgeWay Station in Mauldin.

Construction on the stadium’s west side and additional fan amenities will continue through 2026.

Commenting on the energy at the home opener, Triumph General Manager Zach Prince said after the match, “We still have a lot of work to do in terms of making sure that we’re doing everything possible to make sure the fans have a good and safe experience.

“You can see with the set-up right now, if this is our starting point, we’re in a phenomenal place, and it’s only going to get better and better from here, so I’m so excited.”

GE Vernova Park is the latest USL club to open a soccer-specific stadium, following the opening of Fort Wayne FC’s Ruoff Mortgage Stadium earlier this season.

USL Championship clubs Sacramento Republic FC and Detroit City FC currently have new stadium projects underway, and OKC for Soccer, which is set to join USL Championship in 2028, broke ground on its future 10,000-seat home this week.
