Lancashire Cricket (read the Lancashire County Cricket Club) recently announced a new three-year partnership with the leading smart Pay-As-You-Go energy supplier Utilita thus marking a significant step forward in the club’s commitment to sustainability and delivering positive social impact across Lancashire (UK).
Community-Social Impact Initiatives
The above collaboration will also extend beyond the stadium through a number of community and social impact initiatives. Utilita will become the headline sponsor of Lancashire Cricket’s next Cricket Expo while the Lancashire Cricket Foundation will utilize Utilita’s Blackburn Energy Hub a high-street walk-in center located in The Mall (a large covered shopping center), Blackburn (England) that provides face-to-face energy advice, account top-ups and free community support programs to deliver the community programs and the events.
The partnership will also see Lancashire Cricket and Utilita work together on campaigns highlighting sustainability, community engagement and the positive impact of the collaboration both at the former’s home – the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Stretford, England (UK) – and across Lancashire.

‘cricket.lancashirecricket.co.uk’ stated that the above agreement will see Utilita become the Official Sustainability Energy Partner of Lancashire Cricket and the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Stretford, England (UK) thus supporting the club’s environmental ambitions through investment in the renewable energy infrastructure including the installation of the solar panels across the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground alongside a range of community-focused initiatives.
The Lancashire County Cricket Club represents the historic County of Lancashire in English cricket. The club has held first-class status since it was founded in 1864. The Lancashire’s home is the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Stretford (UK) although the team also play matches at the other grounds around the County.
The 19,000-seat Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground is a cricket ground in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England (UK). It opened in 1857 and has been the home of the Lancashire County Cricket Club since 1864.

As part of the above partnership the solar panels will be installed across the key buildings at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground thus helping to generate renewable energy on-site and reduce the club’s environmental impact as it continues its sustainability journey.

Clean Electricity

Through our fully funded Solar Power Purchase Agreement the club can generate more of its own clean electricity and cut carbon emissions without the need for upfront capital investment. The installation of more than 1,000 solar panels at the Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground will generate almost 400,000 kWh of clean energy every year thus reducing the carbon emissions by more than 80 tonnes annually. This partnership shows how the major organizations can take practical, commercially viable steps towards a more sustainable future while creating lasting value for the communities they serve.
