The Ligue 1 team LOSC Lille has agreed to pay €24.8 million in arrears plus €1.8 million in interest (totaling roughly €26.6m) to settle years of halted rent payments for their home pitch – the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, Metropolis of Lille, Northern France – and end the ongoing legal case before the Lille Administrative Tribunal.
‘FOOTBALL GROUND GUIDE’ stated earlier that the Ligue 1 team LOSC Lille had reached an agreement with the Lille Metropolitan Area (MEL) to repay €24 million in unpaid rent. They have also reached an agreement with the construction group Eiffage to acquire the operating rights for Stade Pierre-Mauroy by early 2027 at the latest.
Share Capital
Eiffage signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to sell 100 percent of the share capital of the Eiffage Lille Stadium Aréna (ELISA – a private operating company and subsidiary of the French construction and concession group Eiffage) and its operating subsidiaries (which manage the stadium) to the LOSC Lille.
Public Ownership
‘FOOTBALL GROUND GUIDE’ further stated that the MEL will retain the ultimate ownership of the Stade Pierre-Mauroy land and infrastructure while the LOSC Lille (via a new operating structure like the Lille Arena SAS Opération LEDA) will take direct control of the commercial and technical operations, hosting football matches, concerts, and events.
Timeline
The formal approvals and employee consultation procedures are underway with the full operational transition expected to be finalized in early 2027.

The LOSC Lille head honcho Olivier Létang has been complaining for several years now that the ambience of the Stade Pierre-Mauroy is not conducive for the top-flight.
Fiscal Interests
The Metropole Europeenne de Lille (MEL) President Eric Skyronka said the transaction would allow Lille to develop the stadium’s full potential while preserving the financial and contractual interests of the Metropolitan authority.
Significant Scope
The 50,000-plus capacity of the Stade Pierre-Mauroy offers significant scope for Lille to build on the venue’s existing commercial appeal. The benefits will depend on how effectively the club turns greater control into sustainable income.
