New sports and entertainment district for Orlando

Downtown Orlando Sports and Entertainment District Rendering (UPROAR PR)

The development team in charge of building a new sports and entertainment district in downtown Orlando (US) has been announced.

‘CLICKORLANDO.COM’ stated that JMA Ventures, LLC and Machete Group, Inc. will be the development team for the new sports and entertainment district.

San Francisco (US)-based the JMA Ventures is a full-service real estate investment firm serving as the Managing Partner of over $1.5 billion in existing projects spanning hospitality, leisure, residential developments, retail, office, and industrial/telecom.

The Machete Group is a management consulting and business services company in Houston, Texas (US). They provide advisory services for projects around the world, including: Venue development, transactional services, organizational strategy, and development management. The Machete Group’s clients include industry leaders in sports, entertainment and real estate.

The project, located at W. Church Street and S. Hughey Avenue near the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida (US), will bring a hotel, 270 residential units, retail and office space, a 3,500-capacity live event venue, a festival plaza space, and more than 1,100 parking spaces.

The 20,000-capacity Amway Center is an indoor arena located in Downtown Orlando, Florida (US). The arena is home to the Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the Orlando Solar Bears of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) and the Orlando Predators of the National Arena League (NAL).

New York (US)-based the National Hockey League (NHL) is a professional ice hockey league in North America comprising 32 teams – 25 in the United States and 7 in Canada.

The East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) is a mid-level professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey (US) with teams scattered across the United States and Canada. It is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL).

Springfield (US)-based the American Hockey League (AHL) is a professional ice hockey league based in the United States and Canada that serves as the primary developmental league for the National Hockey League (NHL). When the NHL teams do not have an AHL affiliate, players are assigned to the AHL teams affiliated with the other NHL teams.

Atlanta (US)-based the National Arena League (NAL) is a professional indoor football league that began play in 2017 and has been primarily based on the East Coast of the United States. For the upcoming 2024 season, the league consists of eight teams.

‘CLICKORLANDO.COM’ further stated that the JMA Ventures and Machete Group will join the SED Development, LLC. and the NBA team Orlando Magic to develop the district.

The Orlando Magic is an American professional basketball team based in Orlando, Florida (US). The Magic compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference. The Amway Center serves as their digs.

Alex Martins, head honcho of Orlando Magic, said in a release, “The JMA Ventures and Machete Group are simply the best of the best. We are thrilled to have them take the reins and guide the sports and entertainment district into something Orlando will be proud to have in the heart of downtown.”

According to downtown Orlando’s website, a date has not been set to begin work on the project.
