Construction at Diriyah Arena (on the outskirts of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) is advancing marking one of the most exciting milestones in Diriyah’s transformation.
A ‘LinkedIn Post By Khaled AlOjyan’ stated, “The massive foundations, retaining structures and early superstructure elements now visible across the site show just how quickly this megaproject is rising. The Arena, awarded to the China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) for SAR 5.75 billion, is now in full execution mode. Across the site, hundreds of workers, cranes and machinery are shaping a district that will soon host one of Saudi Arabia’s most advanced indoor entertainment venues.”
The ‘LinkedIn Post By Khaled AlOjyan’ further stated, “The Diriyah Arena is set to become one of Saudi Arabia’s most iconic indoor venues, a flexible, multipurpose destination that can host everything from international sporting events to concerts, esports championships, exhibitions, and live shows. Designed by HKS, Inc., the arena draws inspiration from Diriyah’s natural cliffs and the timeless elegance of Najdi heritage, blending modern engineering with cultural authenticity.”
- 74,000 m² GFA;
- 20,000-seat capacity; and
- Architecture inspired by At-Turaif UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“This combination will transform the arena into a powerful cultural and entertainment anchor attracting residents and global visitors year-round.”
Beyond the arena itself, the Arena Block includes:
- Three mixed-use office buildings designed by John McAslan + Partners (114,000 m²);
- A 4,000+ space parking facility; and
- Advanced infrastructure networks integrated across the district.
“This creates an ecosystem where entertainment, business and community life blend seamlessly. As a flagship component of the 14 km² Diriyah masterplan backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), the Arena complements a lineup of world-class cultural assets such as the Royal Diriyah Opera House, nine museums and multiple academies.
Diriyah is set to:
- Host 50 million visitors annually;
- House 100,000 residents;
- Generate 178,000 jobs; and
- Contribute SAR 70 billion to GDP.
