FC Bayern München has submitted a planning application to the City of Munich for the construction of a new basketball training center on the FC Bayern Campus in northern Munich.
FC Bayern said that with this groundbreaking project, the seven-time German champion aims to bring its sports infrastructure up to the highest international standards and further expand its youth development programs.
Club President Herbert Hainer recently confirmed the plans for the FC Bayern München basketball training center, which have been in the works for years, and for a new headquarters for the entire FCBB basketball organization.
FC Bayern München Basketball, commonly referred to as Bayern Munich, is a professional basketball club, a part of the FC Bayern Munich sports club based in Munich, Germany. The club competes domestically in Basketball Bundesliga and internationally in EuroLeague.
The modern FC Bayern München basketball training center is set to become the home of all FC Bayern Basketball teams: from the EuroLeague team to the second team (ProB South) to the youth teams, with a competition arena integrated for the youth programs.
The entire office will also relocate from BMW Park to the campus grounds. In the new performance complex, shared areas are also planned for use by FCB soccer players.
Construction on the FC Bayern München basketball training center is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with an estimated construction period of about two years.
FC Bayern München will lead development of the new training center; the club is also the sole shareholder of FC Bayern München Basketball.
SHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten is overseeing the project; the Dortmund-based firm won the architectural competition and has extensive experience in sports infrastructure projects.
Since returning to the Bundesliga in 2011, FCBB professionals have been playing and training in the basketball arena at Munich’s Westpark—now known as BMW Park—which opened in 1972 for the Summer Olympics.
The club’s steadily growing administrative offices have also been housed there ever since.
FCBB said that even after the team moves into the planned training center on the campus grounds, BMW Park is set to remain an attractive venue for games and events.
The arena has been successfully operated and marketed by the tenant, FCBB, for several years.
