RCD Mallorca to partially revamp Son Moix

RCD Mallorca new stadium

RCD Mallorca

The Spanish professional football club RCD Mallorca has drawn out ambitious plans to partially remodel its residence – the Visit Mallorca Stadium. The greater plan is to redecorate the facility in such a manner so that it best serves the interests of the fans and the residents of the City of Palma de Mallorca in Spain.

The ‘RCD Mallorca’ stated that the present stadium – owned by the Palma City Council – must get a futuristic touch and provide more space to the City’s residents.

The RCD Mallorca wants to boast an avant-garde stadium that can hold major entertainment and sporting acts and be counted among the City’s noted landmarks.

Real Club Deportivo Mallorca, S.A.D., commonly known as Real Mallorca or just Mallorca is a Spanish professional football club based in Palma on the island of Majorca in the Balearic Islands in Spain.

The 23,142-capacity Visit Mallorca Stadium is a football stadium located in Palma de Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain, and serves as the home ground of RCD Mallorca. It is the largest stadium in the Balearic Islands and the 26th largest in Spain.

The rehabilitated stadium will boast a fan zone and a new RCD Mallorca store. Many leisure activities will be on offer and major cultural events will be held.

Sustainability first

The sustainability factor will be given topmost priority while revamping the LaLiga team’s venue:

Fans-first policy

The ‘RCD Mallorca’ further stated that the reconfigured Son Moix Stadium will roll out the red carpet for fans and provide them an enriching and enchanting experience while inside the premises. To provide die-hard supporters up-close view of the pitch action, the fans will just be a shouting distance away from the pitch. Presently, there is a huge distance between the stands and the pitch.

Stands will be constructed around the pitch and above the present running track and will form a complete ring connected to the current high grandstand and bleachers. A shed will also come up thus saving the spectators from the weather elements and new seats will be installed.

There will be special facilities on offer for people with reduced mobility problem.

After going through the official procedures, the project report will be submitted to the Palma de Mallorca City Council. The club plans to start work at the earliest possible.

Work is expected to start in 2022 and end in mid-2024:
