Amazon has unveiled the largest single venue deployment of its Just Walk Out technology to date for the NFL Tennessee Titans’ new Nissan Stadium.

RTIH said the Tennessee Titans’ new Nissan Stadium will become the first NFL stadium to go frictionless across all 40+ concession locations with Just Walk Out technology.

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee (US). The Titans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the American Football Conference (AFC) South Division.

They currently play their home games at the 69,143-capacity Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, US.

The 60,000-capacity New Nissan Stadium is an indoor multipurpose stadium under construction in Nashville, Tennessee (US). In 2027, it is to replace the Nissan Stadium as the home venue for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL).

In a LinkedIn post, Amazon said: “We are setting a new standard for sports retail innovation. What this means for Titans fans: More time cheering, less time waiting in lines; Seamless shopping powered by advanced computer vision and AI; Grab what you need and get back to the action – no traditional checkout required.

“This comprehensive partnership transforms every retail touchpoint and demonstrates the future of frictionless fan experiences.

“Congratulations to the Tennessee Titans on this groundbreaking partnership. We can’t wait to see this technology enhance game day for fans when the new Nissan Stadium opens in 2027.”

Amazon Just Walk Out will provide the store technology for more than 40 concessions locations throughout the venue, making Nissan Stadium only the second sports venue with solely checkout-free stores. Intuit Dome uses a rival provider, AiFi.

The Titans decided during the stadium design process that the new venue would feature all frictionless markets.

They were attracted by the sturdiness of the overall Amazon entity and brand which was a major factor in the team’s decision to pick it, said Titans SVP/Technology & Innovation Andrew McIntyre.

McIntyre said, “We believe this is really the next phase, next step in enhancing our fan experience.

“We want people in their seats, we want people to enjoy their time in our stadium, rooting on our team; we really don’t want them waiting in lines. We believe very passionately that the frictionless markets are the most expedient way to get people though to the products they want. It’s really about speed and efficiency.”

The Nissan Stadium project will be Amazon’s largest single-venue store deployment to date.

Amazon Just Walk Out Director and GM Anthony Leggett said, “It’s critical because it shows that the industry is bought in, fans are bought in, they’re comfortable making this jump to the full stadium.

“Customers no longer need to pilot. It’s proven, it adds value, cuts the lines down, and drives throughput and revenue.”

The Nissan Stadium commitment is a major display of confidence in the technology.

Leggett expects a variety of store sizes and configurations designed to flow with Nissan Stadium’s concourses and enable the venue’s operators to shift between NFL games and concerts or other large-scale events.

Leggett believes the installation will only take weeks in 2027. Sodexo Live is the stadium’s food and beverage provider.
