A Topping Out ceremony has been held at the Tennessee Titan’s new Nissan Stadium to mark the latest milestone in the venue’s construction.

The Titans said the ceremonial Topping Out event was the celebration of the work that’s been done to this point, and what’s ahead in the future for the new Nissan Stadium.

Construction of the venue, which has now reached its highest point, is scheduled to be completed in February 2027 and the Titans are set to play their first game in the stadium in fall of 2027.

The Tennessee Titans are a professional American football team based in Nashville, Tennessee (US). The Titans compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the American Football Conference (AFC) South Division.

They currently play their home games at the 69,143-capacity Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, US.

The 60,000-capacity New Nissan Stadium is an indoor multipurpose stadium under construction in Nashville, Tennessee (US). In 2027, it is to replace the Nissan Stadium as the home venue for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL).

Speaking at the ceremony, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell raved about the franchise’s new stadium, the Titans, and the city of Nashville.

Along with Goodell and controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, Governor Bill Lee, Titans President and CEO Burke Nihill and Tennessee Builders Alliance Principal-in-Charge John Gromos were among those on hand for the event.

It began in the East Club of current Nissan Stadium and ended with the group signing the topping off beam inside the new stadium.

At the end of the ceremony, the beam was hoisted to the top as onlookers cheered.

Strunk said, “What an incredible moment this is. Standing here in the shadow of this beautiful building coming to life behind me, it just truly takes your breath away.

“This new stadium means so much to our team, and to this beautiful city we call home. It is more than just a building, it is a promise to our fans, it is a gathering place for our community, and it is a big part of the future of Nashville.”

Strunk thanked the workers involved in the project, and she said the beam “represents your pride, strength and hard work.” Strunk also thanked the team’s fans.

She said, “Y’all are the heartbeat of this team. Your love and support keep us going every step of the way.

“We still have work to do, but today is a big, beautiful step forward. I can’t wait for the day we open those doors and welcome y’all in.”

For his part, Goodell gave a strong hint about the potential of the Super Bowl being played in Nashville one day as he looked toward Strunk and those on hand for the event.

He said, “This is an important franchise, and a wonderful franchise. I know the work they’ve done here from the moment you had the draft and what you did to change the trajectory of the draft.

“You actually took the draft and made it yours, but you did it in a way that was incredibly impactful to the future of the NFL, and the Titans.

“And I think all of us at that moment had the wake-up call and went: ‘This is a Super Bowl-ready city, and the only thing that is missing is the stage.’

“Now, you are building a great stage. We have a process, but I have every expectation you are going to see that type of thing in the future.”
