The English Football League (EFL) Championship team – the Oxford United F.C. (UK) – have announced a new senior appointment who will oversee the club’s new stadium project.
‘Oxford Mail’ stated that Aimee McKenzie has been confirmed as the club’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO) in a statement issued by the Championship side recently.
Preston (UK)-based the English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888 as the Football League it is the oldest football league in the world and was the top-level football league in England from its foundation until 1992 when the top 22 clubs split from it to form the Premier League, the highest level of the English football league system. The Football League was rebranded as the ‘English Football League’ (EFL) starting from the 2016-2017 seasons.
The Oxford United Football Club is a professional football club based in Oxford, England (UK). The club competes in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football.
The 12,500-capacity Kassam Stadium (also known as the Grenoble Road) is the home of the Oxford United F.C. and is named after the ground’s Owner and the former Chairman of the football club, Firoz Kassam.
Her role started on March 17th having previously worked for the Premier League side Fulham F.C. for more than a decade.
The club says she will play a lead role in the delivery of the Oxford United’s new stadium whilst also overseeing the safety and security, events and facilities operations at both the Kassam Stadium and the club’s training center in Horspath (village and civil parish in South Oxfordshire, England, UK).
With a background in venue operations and capital expenditure projects she was most recently the Operations and Venue Director at the Fulham Football Club.
‘Oxford Mail’ further stated that during her 12 years at the Premier League club she was a member of the management board for the new Riverside Stand development with the overall responsibility for operational delivery of matchdays and their 27-acre training facility.
Enthused McKenzie, “I’m incredibly excited to have been given the opportunity to join the Oxford United as the Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a club with incredible ambition, a clear vision for the future and one that is deeply rooted in the local community. I’m looking forward to working with the Board, the staff, the players, and the supporters to help drive the next phase of operational excellence.”

A statement issued by McKenize on her LinkedIn page read, “After 12 very special years as the Venue and Operations Director of the Fulham Football Club I have made the decision to move on to an exciting new challenge. Serving the Fulham FC as the Venue and Operations Director has been an absolute privilege. I am proud of what we have achieved both on and off the pitch and grateful to my colleagues and our supporters who have made my journey so rewarding. It’s been an honor to contribute to the growth and evolution of such an historic club ‘Londons Original’.”
