Atlético Madrid’s Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium has been picked to host the 2027 Champions League Final.
Atlético Madrid said the stadium will host its second final of Europe’s premier club competition in less than a decade next season, following the previous one in 2019.
Ten years after its inauguration in September 2017 the Riyadh Air Metropolitano will once again be the center of attention in international football.
Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D., commonly referred to as Atlético Madrid or simply Atlético, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid (Spain) that plays in LaLiga, the highest level of the Spanish football league system.
The club play their home games at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano stadium which has a capacity of 70,692.
With this second final of Europe’s top competition in less than a decade, the venue has consolidated its position alongside other iconic stadiums such as the new Wembley, the Stade de France, and the Allianz Arena.
After the brilliant 2019 final, which pitted Liverpool against Tottenham with a Reds victory, Atlético said the stadium has once again surpassed the highest quality standards required.
Over these 10 years, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano has become a benchmark of modernity and technology, attracting not only international football matches but also concerts by global stars such as Bad Bunny, Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Ed Sheeran, and The Weeknd.
Since its inauguration, the Riyadh Air Metropolitano has been a living project that continually adapts and improves, remaining at the forefront of technology and the fan experience.
Located in the northeast corner of Madrid, the stadium is part of the new development of the City of Sport, an innovative project by the club that will complete the transformation of the surrounding area into a space with more than 265,000 square meters dedicated to leisure, entertainment, and sports.
The stadium has a capacity of 70,692 spectators, offering maximum comfort and visibility.
In addition to being the world’s first 100% LED stadium, its recent improvements include the installation of a “Sky Ribbon” almost five meters high and 400 meters in perimeter, a 360º screen that transforms the visual experience, and the new LED panels that bring the locker room tunnel to life.
These renovations reinforce the club’s vision of providing an environment of excellence.
The addition of spaces such as the Tunnel Club and the modernization of the VIP areas, as well as the cylindrical LED screens on the façade, are a testament to our ambition to offer an unparalleled experience to fans.
Atlético Madrid said the club understands that the future of football lies in constant adaptation and excellence, principles that guide every improvement in its home.
