Roig Arena in Valencia, Spain, has picked d&b audiotechnik to equip the venue with a new permanent sound system and become its operational partner.
ET Now said the system ensures the arena can reliably host an increasingly ambitious schedule of concerts, sporting events and international shows.
The installation incorporates d&b audiotechnik’s SL, A and CL Series systems, and its versatility has already been demonstrated at two highly demanding events: Valencia Basket’s second Liga title celebration and Rod Stewart’s concert in June.
Roig Arena, designed by the architecture firms HOK and ERRE, was built between 2020 and 2025 and features multiple configurations to host events: from the bowl, which can accommodate up to 20,000 spectators in concert mode and 15,600 in basketball mode, to the Auditorium, with a maximum capacity of 2,000 people, as well as various smaller rooms designed for smaller events.
The investment in Roig Arena amounted to €400 million euros, fully funded by Juan Roig through his personal wealth.
The arena has incorporated a combination of systems that ensure uniform sound coverage throughout the entire venue.
Paül Mollà, Roig Arena’s Technology and Operations Director, said, “Roig Arena was conceived from the outset with a clear objective: to offer the best possible acoustic experience. To achieve this, work was carried out both on the quality of sound inside the venue and on acoustic insulation from the outside.
“The addition of this d&b solution represents a further step in that commitment, enhancing sonic performance and allowing us to guarantee a consistent, high-quality listening experience from every seat in the arena,”
The d&b audiotechnik installation forms part of the venue’s permanent infrastructure and remains integrated within the roof structure when not in use.
This significantly reduces event setup times, streamlines operations and maximises the flexibility of the space.
Coverage is further optimised through ArrayProcessing, which adapts sound distribution to the venue’s specific configuration for each event.
A custom-developed rigging solution has enabled seamless integration of the system and a rapid installation process, minimising intervention time in a venue of high technical complexity.
Pablo Serra, Roig Arena’s Director of Music Content, said, “d&b’s commitment to efficiency and reliability, together with the brand’s prestige among leading international touring productions, were some of the key factors behind our decision to choose this system. We want to establish Roig Arena as a benchmark venue for music, sport and entertainment. With our new d&b system, we are ready to welcome top-tier international artists to Valencia on a regular basis,”
The installation also includes d&b audiotechnik’s latest-generation amplification, designed to deliver maximum performance with lower energy consumption. Upcoming events include concerts by artists such as Pet Shop Boys, Chayanne, Judas Priest and Bryan Adams, as well as top-level sporting competitions including Project B, the new travelling international basketball league.
Alfonso Luria, Sales Manager of d&b audiotechnik Iberia, added, “With this project, d&b audiotechnik further strengthens its position as a technology partner for arenas and large multifunctional venues.
“The combination of electroacoustic excellence, precise coverage control, energy efficiency, and a complete ecosystem of hardware, software and services provides Roig Arena with a reliable platform for artists, operators and audiences alike,”
