Dubai (UAE) is girding up its loins and is pulling out all stops to ensure that the highest level of security is maintained for the forthcoming cricket extravaganza.
The ‘Khaleej Times’ stated that Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Director, General Department of Protective Security and Emergency and Chairman of Dubai Events Security Committee, has reaffirmed their full preparedness to ensure the highest level of security for the final round of the T20 World Cup matches.
The Super 12 stage of the tournament is all set to start from October 23rd, with the final slated for November 14th.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (earlier known as ICC World Twenty20) is the international championship of Twenty20 International cricket. Organized by cricket’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament currently consists of 16 teams, and six other teams chosen through the T20 World Cup Qualifier. All matches are played as Twenty20 Internationals.

The ‘Khaleej Times’ further stated that the final is scheduled to be held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on November 14th.
The 25,000-capacity Dubai International Stadium, formerly known as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium, is a multipurpose stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is mainly used for cricket and is one of three stadiums in the country, the other two being the 27,000-capacity Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah and the 20,000-capacity Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Major General Al Ghaithi had meetings with officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and cricket clubs in the UAE on the security measures for all the matches at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
He also reviewed the latest smart technologies deployed by Dubai Police to secure the venue.
Al Ghaithi also spoke about the committee’s efforts to educate the public about the importance of positive engagement and adherence to precautionary measures and protocols while attending matches.
