The Dutch professional football club Feyenoord Rotterdam officially unified with its residence – the De Kuip in Rotterdam, Netherlands – effectively returning the iconic stadium to the club’s ownership after the shareholders overwhelmingly approved the historic takeover.

A ‘Facebook Post’ stated that “the agreement ends decades of split ownership allowing the Feyenoord Rotterdam to control over 95 percent of the stadium shares and secure its licensing and operational future.”

The Feyenoord Rotterdam is a Dutch professional football club based in Rotterdam (Netherlands) which plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.

The 51,117-seat Stadion Feijenoord, more commonly known by its nickname De Kuip, is a stadium in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It serves as the home pitch of the Eredivisie team Feyenoord Rotterdam.

A historic chapter has been written in the history of Feyenoord Rotterdam.

The ‘Facebook Post’ further stated that the “shareholders of De Kuip overwhelmingly voted in favor of the long-awaited unification between the club and its iconic stadium during an Extraordinary General Shareholders Meeting. The decision means that for the first time in decades De Kuip will effectively return to Feyenoord’s ownership. The club will now control more than 95 percent of the stadium’s shares bringing an end to years of uncertainty regarding the future of one of football’s most legendary venues.”

A Historic Turning Point

“The vote represents far more than a simple ownership change. For years, discussions surrounding the future of De Kuip have centered on renovation projects, redevelopment plans and even the possibility of a new stadium. Now, Feyenoord Rotterdam finally gains direct control over its own future.”

Seating Rights

“The agreement also includes protections for the existing shareholders. The holders of the V-shares and O-certificates will retain their seating rights for the next 15 years and will be able to sell their shares back to the club under the pre-agreed conditions. After that period they will have the option of converting those rights into season-ticket seating arrangements running until 2071.”

Investment Commitment

“Perhaps the most significant aspect of the agreement is Feyenoord’s commitment to invest an additional €41.5 million into De Kuip over the next 10 years. This investment comes on top of the regular stadium rent already paid by the club and is intended to modernize and improve the iconic venue.”

The Goal

“The objective is clear: To ensure that the De Kuip continues to meet the expectations of the supporters, the players, the staff, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB), the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the local authorities for decades to come.”

The Beginning of a New Era

“With shareholder approval secured Feyenoord can immediately begin long-awaited maintenance projects and stadium improvements. The club also gains greater freedom to unlock the commercial potential of the stadium and its surrounding areas, something that has become increasingly important in modern football.”

Central Element

“The Municipality of Rotterdam has already confirmed that De Kuip remains a central element of future development plans in Rotterdam South thus creating new opportunities both inside and outside the stadium.”

A Dream Long Shared by Supporters

“For many Feyenoord supporters this vote represents the fulfillment of a dream. After years of debates, political discussions and uncertainty surrounding the future of De Kuip the club and the stadium are finally moving forward together. The result not only safeguards the future of one of football’s most iconic grounds but also provides Feyenoord with a stronger foundation for its sporting and commercial ambitions.”
