Feyenoord poised to secure full control of De Kuip Image: Feyenoord Rotterdam

The Dutch club Feyenoord Rotterdam is set to take full control of their residence – the De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam, Netherlands – ending decades of split ownership and giving the club complete authority over one of Europe’s most storied football cathedrals.

‘INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL’ stated that the agreement unites Feyenoord with Stadion Feijenoord, the company that owns and runs the ground, and clears the way for a major redevelopment designed to secure the De Kuip’s future.

The Feyenoord Rotterdam is a Dutch professional football club based in Rotterdam, Netherlands, which plays in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football.

The 51,117-capacity Stadion Feijenoord, more commonly known by its nickname De Kuip, is a stadium in Rotterdam, Netherlands. It serves as the home facility of the Feyenoord Rotterdam.

‘INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL’ further stated that now, Feyenoord plans to invest more than €69 million into De Kuip by 2033 modernizing its facilities while preserving its working-class soul typified by the City’s dockyards. The deal will see an initial €3.7 million raise in the club’s stake in the stadium to 95 percent with funds set aside for major upgrades, maintenance and improved matchday experiences.

Improvements will come at the cost of €3-5 million annually on top of the €28 million maintenance plan.

General Manager Dennis te Kloese called the move a defining moment, “We all know that Feyenoord is De Kuip and De Kuip is Feyenoord. This step allows Feyenoord to truly become the boss of its own club.”

As the Commercial Director Feyenoord Lilian de Leeuw put in, “The stadium, however atmospheric, is lagging behind. Feyenoord’s investment restores our pride and prepares the ‘Iron Lady’ for the future.”
