Giovanni Carnevali has begun his journey as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Serie A team Juventus FC (Italy).
‘Football Italia’ stated that in his new role Giovanni Carnevali has held meetings with the club’s accounting team in order to get a better understanding of the club’s budget and potential for summer transfers.
The Juventus FC, commonly known as Juventus or colloquially as Juve, is an Italian professional football club based in Turin, Piedmont (Italy) who compete in the Serie A, the top tier of the Italian football league system.
The 41,689-seat Juventus Stadium, known for sponsorship reasons as the Allianz Stadium since July 2017, sometimes simply known in Italy as the Stadium, is an all-seater football stadium in the Vallette Borough of Turin, Italy, and serves as the home of the Juventus FC.
‘Football Italia’ further stated that prior to his present role Giovanni Carnevali has spent the last 12 years as the head honcho of the Serie A team US Sassuolo Calcio. He has made the move to Turin following the departure of Damien Comolli who has recently left his top brass role in Juventus FC after being in charge as the head honcho for a year.
UEFA Settlement Agreement
One of the immediate priorities for Giovanni Carnevali is to get a clear picture of the club’s settlement agreement with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) which will determine exactly how much the Juventus FC will be able to spend, and more importantly, how much they will need to bring in from outgoing transfers this summer.
UEFA Financial Rules
It is anticipated that Juventus will have to sell the players in order to comply with the UEFA’s financial rules and in order to make up for the expected drop in revenues following the club’s failure to qualify for the 2026-2027 edition of the Champions League.
Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is the governing body of football in Europe consisting of 55 national associations.
The UEFA Champions League, commonly known as the Champions League, is an annual club association football competition organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) that is contested by the top-division European clubs.
It is being suggested that Juventus may have to sell a big-name first-team star in order to settle the budgets such as defender Gleison Bremer (Brazilian footballer) who has a €58m release clause in his contract. However, Giovanni Carnevali is determined to weigh all options and that keeping hold of the Brazilian could still be a possibility.
Juventus will continue to look at the potential incoming transfers: Talks with the LaLiga team Atlético Madrid’s (Spain) Alexander Sørloth (Norwegian footballer) and the Premier League team Aston Villa (UK) goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez (Argentine soccer goalkeeper) is underway and updates on both fronts are expected in due course.
