Hamburger SV football fans have a new spot to enjoy pre- and post-match hospitality and entertainment after a new clubhouse was officially opened.
Hamburger SV said the Barkasse will serve as a central meeting place in the heart of the Volkspark complex.
It offers space for interaction and community among the various HSV departments, club committees, and indoor sports groups.
At the same time, it creates a new gathering spot for fans and members, designed to enrich club life well beyond matchdays.
Hamburger SV or HSV is a German sports club based in Hamburg, Germany. They play in the Bundesliga – the top professional football (soccer) league of Germany.
Volksparkstadion is a football stadium in Hamburg, Germany, with a capacity to accommodate 57,000 spectators which makes it the eighth largest stadium in Germany. It has served as the home ground of Hamburger SV since 1953. The stadium opened its doors on July 12th, 1953. With the opening of the new club house, the HSV center at the Volkspark gains a vital new component.
After the building complex was handed over from the Alexander Otto Sports Foundation to HSV e.V. in November 2024, it underwent extensive modernization and accessibility upgrades over the past few months.
Earlier this year, the “Margit-Zinke-Halle” opened as the site’s sporting centerpiece; now, the new club house—the “Barkasse”—is officially commencing operations.
For the inauguration, HSV welcomed around 80 guests to the Barkasse premises.
Invitees included project partners and key contributors, as well as club representatives and members of the HSV fan community.
HSV President Henrik Köncke and Simon Philipps, a member of the Supporters Club leadership team, highlighted the new club house’s importance for togetherness and community within HSV.
Köncke said, “This club house stands for identification, community, and club life. We extend our special thanks to everyone involved and to our partners who made the realization of this project possible and supported it.”
In addition to regular member events—such as casual get-togethers, regulars’ tables, readings, and quiz nights—the Barkasse will play a key role in daily operations.
The venue offers a lunch menu and serves as a hub on home and away matchdays for HSV fans wishing to watch the games in a unique club atmosphere.
This new club venue creates another space where the HSV sense of togetherness can be experienced firsthand.
HSV said the Barkasse stands for connection, exchange, and community, offering the HSV family a new home right next to the Volkspark.
