Improvisations are being made to the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany, with illumination of the escape routes and other safety equipment of the facility. The emergency escape lighting route in all its colors has also lent a vibrant touch to the entire ambience of the stadium.

‘Bild’ stated that the playing field also wears an illuminated look now as well as other parts of the above arena.

The 57,000-capacity Volksparkstadion is a football stadium in Hamburg, Germany, and is the home of the 2. Bundesliga team Hamburger SV.

‘Bild’ further stated that the stadium is bathed in lighting glory and the venue towards St. Pauli is bathed in blue, but leaves provision to be illuminated with other colors or even hold a light show.

The remaining part of the stadium will also be ‘dressed up’ for EURO 2024.

The 2024 Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA EURO 2024 or simply EURO 2024, will be the 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international football championship organized by the UEFA for the men’s national teams of its member- associations. It will be hosted by Germany and will be held from June 14th-July 14th, 2024.

UEFA EURO 2024 will take place across 10 world class stadiums in Germany from the Olympiastadion Berlin to the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

Nyon (Switzerland)-based the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is one of six continental bodies of governance in association football. It governs football, futsal and beach football in Europe and the transcontinental countries of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, and Kazakhstan, as well as some Asian countries such as Israel, Cyprus and Armenia. The UEFA consists of 55 national association members. Because of the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, FIFA and UEFA suspended all Russian national teams and clubs from any FIFA and UEFA competitions.

Work in Progress:

  • A welding robot is currently working on strengthening the pylons in the East end of the venue for replacing the stadium roof. The roof replacement work is scheduled to start in July;
  • The acoustics of the facility is also being strengthened and is expected to be completed in the next few months; and
  • Once the stadium acoustics improvisation is done, the space for wheelchair users will be expanded and the VIP areas will be air-conditioned. Work on this is expected to start in Summer.

So far, the Hamburger SV is on schedule with the modernization work of its home arena.
