Populous, the leading sport and entertainment architecture and design firm announced on February 13th several strategic global organizational changes going into effect on March 31st, 2025.
‘POPULOUS’ stated that Bruce Miller, currently Managing Director of the Americas Region, becomes the new Global Chair and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Populous is a global architectural and design practice with regional headquarters in Kansas City (US), London (UK) and Brisbane (Australia) specializing in sports facilities, arenas and convention centers as well as in the planning and design of major special events.
Populous is a global design firm that began with a singular focus – to draw people together around the things they love, through experiences that capture all the senses and amplify the pure emotion shared in human moments. Over the last 40 years, the firm has designed more than 3,500 projects worth over $60 billion across emerging and established markets. Populous’ comprehensive services include architecture, interior design, event planning and overlay, branded environments, wayfinding and graphics, planning and urban design, landscape architecture, aviation and transport design, hospitality and sustainable design consulting.
‘POPULOUS’ further stated that Earl Santee, one of the Founders of the practice and the current CEO and Chair of the Global Board of Directors, transitions to Executive Chairman remaining on the Board of Directors.
Christopher Lee will assume new roles as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors and the Global Head of Design. He will remain as Managing Director of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Region.
Jonathan Mallie, leader of the firm’s New York office since 2015, becomes Managing Director of the Americas Region. He will continue to serve as a Global Director of the Global Holdings Board and design lead on key projects.
Richard Breslin continues to lead the Asia-Pacific (APAC) Region from Co-Managing Director to the APAC Managing Director. He joins the Board of Directors and will continue to serve as a Global Director of the Global Holdings Board.
The former Co-Managing Director of the APAC region, Paul Henry, steps down from his current Co-Managing Director role but remains a key member of the APAC leadership team and the Global Holdings Board.
The Regional Managing Directors will report to Bruce Miller as the CEO and the Chair as will other global leadership roles which remain unchanged:
- Kevin Hagan – Chief Financial Officer;
- Zachary Rudman – Chief Legal Officer;
- Kristin Gibbar – Chief People Officer; and
- Nick Reynolds – Chief Global Strategy Officer

Talking about Miller’s appointment as the CEO and Chair, Santee commented, “Bruce Miller is a 36-year veteran of our practice. Having been the Managing Director of our Americas Region since 2019 he has overseen consistent growth expanding the range of services we offer to clients in a period where the practice grew to 11 offices across the United States and Canada. He has also personally led the design for iconic projects including the 19,400-capacity Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the 39,504-capacity Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the 30,109-capacity Geodis Park in Nashville, Tennessee. There is no one better prepared to take Populous forward.”

His global experience and perspective will also bring huge benefit in his role as the Vice-Chair of the practice.”
