The Serie A team Como 1907 has announced the first stage of redevelopment of their home pitch – the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in Como, Italy. And it will be redesigned by the famed architectural firm Populous.

‘POPULOUS’ stated that nestled on the shore of the beautiful Lake Como in Northern Italy the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium encapsulates Como 1907’s deep roots within its City.

The Como 1907 is an Italian professional football club based in Como, Lombardy (Italy). The club competes in Serie A, the first tier of Italian football.

The Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia is a multiuse stadium in Como, Italy. It is primarily used for football matches and is the home ground of Como 1907. The stadium has a capacity to pack in 10,584 spectators.

Populous is a global architectural and design practice with regional headquarters in Kansas City (US), London (UK) and Brisbane (Australia) specializing in sports facilities, arenas and convention centers as well as in the planning and design of major special events.

‘POPULOUS’ further stated that now, in collaboration with the Municipality of Como, the club has announced initial plans and unveiled concept images for the Populous-designed redevelopment of their iconic stadium.

While all of the current renderings are concept images and, therefore, not necessarily representative of the final designs, the club expects to show completed designs following the completion of the first phase – the submission and approval of the Document of Feasibility of Project Alternatives (DOCFAP).
 
The full expected timeline for the redevelopment is as follows:

• Design (Feasibility) and Approval Process – May 2026;
• Construction Phase I – October 2027; and
• Construction Phase II – August 2028.

 
In the meantime, Como 1907 and the Municipality are committed to an open and transparent process, engaging with the fans and the local residents throughout the development.
