Graham Gilmore - CEO, London Stadium, UK

Graham Gilmore

Graham began his career gaining extensive experience across a variety of entertainment and sports venues, including theatre, cinema, and football. Highlights of this period include launching of the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre, and at Fulham FC where the club went all the way to the Europa League final.

He joined the London Stadium in April 2015 as COO in the middle of its first transition stage from being closed since the end of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2017 he became CEO of the London Stadium, the position he still currently holds.

Since the Stadium reopened in June 2015, it has played host to the Rugby World Cup 2015, Race of Champions, World Athletics Championships 2017, Major League Baseball, Monster Jam, star-studded concerts including artists such as ACDC, The Rolling Stones, Beyonce, Robbie Williams, Foo Fighters, Muse, Green Day, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Burna Boy, The Weekend, Iron Maiden and Sam Fender, to name a few.

2019 saw the first Major League Baseball fixture in Europe, between the New York Yankees and Chicago Red Sox. Since then, MLB has returned in 2023 and 2024, showcasing London Stadium as a superb multi-use venue and a fantastic asset for the capital.

During the football season, London Stadium is home to Premier League club West Ham United FC. In addition to domestic fixtures, the venue has hosted high-profile events such as Soccer Aid for UNICEF and an international men’s friendly between Spain and Colombia.

Recognising the need for world-class pitch management to maintain the Stadium’s multi-use flexibility, Graham expanded his expertise in this area to ensure the venue could seamlessly host events across different sports and entertainment formats. To achieve this, he co-founded i-Turf with agronomy specialist Andy Cole, leveraging Andy’s experience with STRI to develop innovative turf solutions. This partnership equipped Graham with the knowledge to overcome the complex challenges of delivering a high-performance playing surface while maximising the summer event window for the venue. In 2025, London Stadium’s commitment to excellence was recognised when its Grounds Team was awarded Premier League Grounds Team of the Year for producing the best pitch in the league.

Under Graham’s leadership, London Stadium continued its journey to be one of the world’s greenest sports and entertainment venue. In July 2025, work was completed on Europe’s largest stadium roof solar panel project, which will generate an estimated 850,000 kWh, enough to power all major events annually and significantly reduce energy bills.

The Stadium continues to evolve and innovate, ensuring it remains one of the world’s leading multi-use venues.
