Elegant Allegiant Stadium gets green touch

Allegiant Stadium pitch July 2020

LV Raiders

Crews have started installing sod at the impressive and striking Allegiant Stadium’s (US) grass field. With this, the marvellous stadium has added a touch of green.

Allegiant Stadium, the new home of the Las Vegas Raiders and maybe the temporary 2020 home for other West Coast teams, will see a number of firsts this season. It saw one recently when the first sod was laid on the field tray at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas.

Allegiant Stadium is a domed stadium under construction, located in Paradise, Nevada, United States. It will serve as the home stadium for the National Football League (NFL)’s Las Vegas Raiders and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels college football team. The doors of the stadium are scheduled to open on July 31.

The sod sits on a field tray that will roll outside the stadium on non-game days as the UNLV football team will play on artificial turf. The area outside the stadium where the tray is stored will host pregame festivities for Raiders games.

The four-foot deep tray moves the 9,500-ton grass field in and out of the stadium, taking around 90 minutes.

The field tray will be stored outside the stadium on nongame days as UNLV football will play on artificial turf.

The tray will roll in on 13 rails through a 14-feet-by-240-feet opening on the south end of the stadium.

The field tray will take about 90 minutes to fully move in or out of the stadium via 76 electric motors moving it along a rail line.
